Tartanology is the new Collection by Scottish-based designer, Kairen Alexis Ruse, inspired by the rich history of Scotland. The Collection has been designed taking influence from heritage fabrics with classic tailoring in three stunning tartans.

The birth place of Valour, the country of worth;
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands forever I’ll love.
– Robert Burns

Glencoe, Scotland

The breath taking beauty of the Highland landscapes, the drama of Scottish history characterise the romance of this enchanting country and tartan plays a huge role in this.

Traditionally tartans were coloured by dye-producing plants, roots, berries and trees local to a specific area and so became known as local clan tartans. With the evolution of modern dyes we can now produce more elaborate patterns and vivid colours in keeping with our traditional yet contemporary designs. Tartan plays a huge part in the traditions and ceremonies and has been worn as a proud symbol of Scotland for centuries, which is why we have created Tartanology as a tribute to this wonderful country.
